The Display Options sidebar panel allows you to choose how the question results are displayed and the format of the data labels.
Note: When the current slide does not contain an interactive question then all controls within the Display Options sidebar will be disabled.
Note:
Changing the requirements in this view only updates the selected slide. If you want changes to effect the whole presentation you should update Preferences.
Updating Preferences will only affect future created questions.
Controls
The Display Options controls are contained within four sections:
- Options
- Data Labels
- Chart Shapes
- Layout
Options
Control | Description |
Show results in slide show | When selected then the question results will automatically be displayed when the vote is closed. When deselected the results will not appear when the vote is closed. However the results will be visible when the slide show is exited. Deselect this option if the results of the vote are sensitive and you do not wish to display them to the audience. |
Show results axis | When selected then the results axis will become visible for the current bar or column chart. The results axis can help make comparing responses against a scale easier, particularly when the data labels have been deleted or hidden. Major divisions along the results axis are marked by the results axis labels. |
Show range axis | Hides the horizontal range axis and range axis labels below a column chart when deselected. The range axis will generally only need to be turned off if the columns are deleted. |
Show Average | This option is only available for numeric range questions and when selected the mean average response is displayed on the slide. |
Number of columns/rows | Changes how the voting range is banded within column and table displays for numeric range questions. The banding options will depend on how the voting range is divided so that each band contains a equal amount of values. The maximum number of columns/rows that can be shown is 20 to ensure that the results are always readable on the slide. Note: When the total number of unique responses within a voting range equals a prime number larger than ten, then the first band will contain one extra value. This prevents the voting range from being grouped into just one column or row which would provide a meaningless result. |
Data Labels
Control | Description |
Data label type | Changes how the response values are displayed:
|
Decimal places | Change the number of decimal places for data labels which are displayed as percentages. Note: Not applicable when showing the data labels as actual votes only because they will always result in a whole number. |
Add decimal places if required | |
Show multiple selection results as |
Changes how percentages are calculated for multiple selection questions where the audience can vote for more than one choice. Only applicable when the data labels are displayed as percentages and ranking is not enabled. There are two options:
|
Display total row | When selected then an extra row will be added to the bottom of a table, displaying the total number of votes received for the question. Note: Not available when the data labels are being shown as percentages only because the total would always be 100%. |
Chart Shapes
Control | Description |
Select all... | Selects all chart shapes of the same type, e.g. all bars, within the current question display. This allows you to apply changes such as formatting or resizing to multiple similar objects at the same time. |
Layout
Control | Description |
Autofit | Adjusts the layout of the current question display to best fit within the available area. A useful tool when other objects within the slide, such as the title Click to add title box, have been repositioned since the question was first created.Note: Not applicable for table and calculated values displays because they can be easily adjusted by selecting and dragging them within PowerPoint. Autofit is required for bar, pie and column chart displays as they consist of complex groups of individual shapes that cannot be manipulated so simply. |
Reset to Default | Repairs the layout of the current question display to its original state when it was first created. This option is useful if any elements of the current display have been accidentally moved or deleted. Note: Any formatting changes made since the question was first created will be lost. However any changes made to the 'Display Options' and 'Vote Effects' settings will be preserved. |
Scoredboard - Display options
Control | Description |
Decimal places | Allows the scoreboard to show scores up to 2 decimal places. This is mainly used for scoreboards when a speed scoring question is voted on. |
Average Team Scores | This determines whether the team scores displayed are the average score of the teams or the accumulated score of the teams (i.e. A team of 2 people where both team members submit a correct answer worth 10 will score an average of 10 points but an accumulative score of 20). |
Handset Display - Pro Only with Connectors\Communicators
Control | Description |
Display Scores | Displays the score for that particular handset or smartcard. |
Display Places | Displays the scoreboard place for that particular handset or smartcard. |
Show Indexes/Team Name | Displays the unique index number assigned to the handset or the team name if the voted into a team for that particular handset or smartcard |
